The Park District of Forest Park’s aquatic center hosted the 29th annual Illinois Parks and Recreation Association lifeguard games on Friday.

About 40 teams of certified lifeguards and junior lifeguards from across the Chicagoland area competed to show off their fitness, teamwork and rescue skills.

Though lifeguards who work at Forest Park Aquatic Center have participated in the past, this is the first year Forest Park has hosted the event.
