On Dec. 1, police received a call from the Forest Park CTA Blue Line parking lot after someone called, left the line open, and the operator heard two people screaming. Officers arrived and saw a man sitting in a car, pulling a woman’s hair. Several braids were on the ground near the driver side door, according to the police report, and the woman had bite marks and was bleeding on her hands. The woman said she and the man were coming from Hillside to run errands, but he insisted on dropping her off at the train. She said she accused him of cheating and they started arguing. He was arrested for domestic battery.  

Boyfriend arrested after battering woman 

On Nov. 30, police were dispatched to Circle Avenue for a suspected robbery. A woman told police she was battered by her friend and boyfriend while inside her boyfriend’s apartment, according to the police report. The woman said her friend was there for a threesome and, when the woman rejected advances, she was punched in the face and sprayed with pepper spray. She was taken to Rush Oak Park Hospital while police went to the apartment and arrested the boyfriend. The friend had already left. They also provided the woman with a domestic violence informational sheet and helped her sign a complaint against her boyfriend. 

Headbutting in Walmart 

Police arrived at Walmart on Nov. 29 after a call that subjects were fighting. A man told police that he and his husband were shopping for a Christmas tree when a man almost hit them with his shopping cart. A verbal altercation ensued, and one of the men was headbutted by the aggressor. The man with the shopping cart was arrested for battery.  

Violence at work 

Police were dispatched to 7500 Roosevelt Road on Nov. 28 because of a report of a fight. The two involved in the fight are a couple, though the woman has an order of protection against the man, including protection at the Chicago Bulk Mail Center, though they both work there. At work, the two started arguing, and the fight turned physical when the man hit the woman several times in the head and pulled her hair. The man was arrested on one count of domestic battery and one count for violating the order of protection.   

Assisting officer who was shot 

Police responded to the 1000 block of Lake Street in Oak Park for a call about someone with a gun. Officers reported shots fired and that there was an officer down, who was Oak Park Det. Allan Reddins. One of the Forest Park police officers helped give aid to Reddins, who died at Loyola University Medical Center. 

Possession of controlled substance 

While on patrol Dec. 1, police noticed a man pulling on the door handles of Howard Mohr Community Center, which was closed, and looking inside parked cars. When police asked him about his actions, he said he was trying to use the bathroom in the community center. Police performed a pat down and felt a sharp object in the man’s pocket that was discovered to be a glass pipe. Police also found straws, lighters and, in the man’s sock, suspect heroin. He was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.  

These items were obtained from Forest Park Police Department reports dated Nov. 28 through Dec. 1 and represent a portion of the incidents to which police responded. Anyone named in these reports has only been charged with a crime and cases have not yet been adjudicated. We report the race of a suspect only when a serious crime has been committed, the suspect is still at large, and police have provided us with a detailed physical description of the suspect as they seek the public’s help in making an arrest.
