The June 10 edition of the Forest Park Review includes a special section covering the Pride Fest held June 5 in Constitution Court. The special section contained a number of photographs, including a photo of what appears to be a 4- or 5-year-old child offering a dollar bill to a drag queen.
I did not attend the event and the photograph is obscure, but the drag queen is clearly accepting money from the audience, including from the child. It’s hard to imagine that having a child offer money to a drag queen is an appropriate or beneficial experience for the child or for other children in attendance.
I don’t know if the village has guidelines for village events attended by children but it should. In my opinion, it looks like a line was crossed at Pride Fest, which was inappropriate at best and possibly far worse.
