Congratulations to the Forest Park Police Department (and police from Westchester, LaGrange, Hillside and Justice) for catching the thieves desecrating graves in the area. As someone who spends time in the local cemeteries, I can attest to their incredible beauty. There are many stunning monuments and markers honoring those who have passed.
These places of rest should remain safe and cherished. It is shocking to think that criminals were stealing irreplaceable doors only to be melted down for scrap. I’m grateful our police force worked so diligently to bring these folks to justice. And my fingers are crossed that some of the doors were found before they were melted down and can be put back in their rightful places.
