Barone Drug (or Barone Pharmacy) was a local corner store, pharmacy and hub in the neighborhood. Located at Harrison and Beloit directly across from The Park and down the street from Field Stevenson, it was perfectly positioned to be a “go to” refreshment spot for Forest Park youth for generations. By 1948 there were seven local pharmacies throughout the village. Joseph Barone came from Sicily and owned the popular drug store from 1924 to 1971, when it changed hands to Anzalone Pharmacy. Ted Anzalone, shown here, worked at the Barone counter in 1936.
