Michelle Melin-Rogovin is running for mayor in Forest Park.

Currently the commissioner of streets and public improvements, Melin-Rogovin announced her campaign on Oct. 21, aiming to be on the ballot for mayor in Forest Park’s April 6 election.

Melin-Rogovin’s main goals if elected are to collaborate on improving village finances, infrastructure and community support of Forest Park.

“I know we can improve our finances and solidify our finances for our future if we all work together,” Melin-Rogovin told the Review. “A mayor is not the only person that works to improve any issue the village is facing. I don’t have any illusions that one person can make all the difference, but a mayor can bring people together who are the best minds around any issue — and together we can make a difference.”

All four commissioners and the mayor are up for reelection next year. They need about 30 signatures in order to be put on the ballot.

Mayor Rory Hoskins has not confirmed whether he’s running for reelection. Commissioner Maria Maxham announced Oct. 13 that she had resigned as commissioner and dropped out of the mayoral race, after announcing earlier this month that she was running.
