7th Congressional District

For the first time in nearly 30 years, Forest Parkers are voting for a new congressman in the 7th District. The district almost resembles the number “7,” stretching from Hillside, Forest Park and Oak Park, through Austin, Garfield Park, North Lawndale and The Loop, then south to Englewood.

Current Congressman Danny Davis announced his retirement in July. Both Austin residents, Davis endorsed La Shawn Ford to take his place in the 7th Congressional District.

Ford won the Democratic seat in the March 17 primaries in a race against 12 other candidates. On Nov. 3, Ford’s name will appear on the ballot next to Chad Koppie, the Republican nominee who lives outside the 7th Congressional District.
