Lessons during changing times
Hosting events that drive traffic to Forest Park, showcase the business community and keep Forest Park’s name at the forefront are an important part of the work of the Forest Park Chamber of Commerce. Events play an essential role in marketing our village and bringing our community together.

Even during these challenging times, a boutique grocery store and numerous local restaurants have chosen to support a trio of local philanthropies. Thanks to more than a dozen generous restaurants our community can fight domestic violence, homelessness and food insecurity one bite at a time.
Forest Park fire chief announces retirement
Fire Chief Bob McDermott is retiring from a 32-year career as a firefighter in Forest Park at the end of the month.
Arthur Steeg, 95
Arthur Steeg, 95, of LaGrange, Fennville, Michigan and Venice, Florida, formerly of Forest Park, died on Aug. 17, 2020. Born in Brienne, Romania on Feb. 28, 1925, he was the son of Reinhold and Hulda Steeg.
COVID and the Altenheim site
If the dismal state of village government finances in the ongoing COVID-19 scourge were some partial incentive to move quickly to offer portions of the village-owned Altenheim property up for sale to developers, well the scourge has found a new way to bite the village.

We’re all vaguely aware of the impact of the pandemic on local businesses. Some businesses have closed entirely, others are staggering. Efforts to support local independent shops and restaurants have been heartfelt and somewhat effective.

Established in 2012, Amy’s Winehouse, was originally located on Madison Street in Forest Park and then moved to 7235 W. Roosevelt Road, in 2016. Now, eight years later, owner Mark Calahan is prepared to pivot once again to help his business survive.

Effective Aug 26., customers of bars and restaurants in Illinois must wear masks “during any interaction” with employees, whether indoors or outdoors.
