Former Assistant State’s Attorney Jerry Marzullo, one of five men charged in a beating outside a Forest Park restaurant last month, was released Tuesday on $10,000 bond.
Marzullo, 28, is charged with aggravated battery in connection with the April 5 alleged beating of Wayne Pesek, the former village administrator of North Riverside, outside the Golden Steer Restaurant.
According to the Illinois Attorney General’s office, Pesek suffered concussions, broken facial bones and other injuries.
The case is being prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office instead of the Cook County State’s Attorney because Marzullo was an assistant state’s attorney at the time of the incident. He has since resigned.
Last week, the four other men charged in the alleged beating, including Marzullo’s father, former Berwyn Public Safety Director Frank Marzullo, also were released on $10,000 bond each. Jerry Marzullo’s bond hearing was held Tuesday because he was out of the country last week.
Like the other men charged, Jerry Marzullo was ordered to turn in his firearm owner’s identification card.
