Forest Park Middle School’s FLL (First Lego League) Robotics team advanced to the state championship tournament this weekend after winning a trophy at the FLL Robotics Chicago Regional Tournament Dec. 13.
The FPMS “E-Lemon-ators” designed a game that could improve the way younger students learn algebra. The team also designed a robot. The contest was held at Chicago’s Miles Davis Magnet Academy.
Team members are Nadir Negreti, Sakthi Kumar, Vishnu Nair, Keegan Brown, Jaydon Chalichemala, Justin Chalichemala, Jaydon Chalichemala and Camilo Medina.
FLL Robotics is an international non-profit organization that holds competitions to build interest and participation in STEM learning through real-world, problem-solving missions. The contest also seeks to build self-confidence, communication and leadership.
Teams are judged based on their problem-solving skills, creative thinking, competitive play, teamwork, sportsmanship, and sense of community, said Middle School teacher Grace Finn.
