A night of comedy

Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “In the Heights” 

Students at Proviso Math and Science Academy will be performing Hamilton creator’s new musical “In the Heights.” Performances are Nov. 7 at 3:45 p.m., Nov. 8 at 3:45 and 7 p.m. and Nov. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at PMSA, 8601 Roosevelt Rd. Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for senior adults and students, and free for children under 5.

Chicago Bears vs. Detroit Lions 

Watch the game at St. Bernardine’s annual Game Day on Nov. 10 at St. Bernardine’s Fearon Hall, 815 Elgin Ave. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and the game starts at noon on 60- and 90-inch big screens. Tickets are $30 and provide entrance to the party, a hearty lunch buffet, appetizers, sweets and all the beer, wine, soft drinks and coffee you can safely consume. “The Ghost of Cleopatra” 

Local author, columnist, private investigator and educator John Rice will be discussing and signing copies of his book “The Ghost of Cleopatra” at Century & Sleuths bookstore, 7419 Madison St. on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. 

A night of comedy 

Laugh the night away with Comedy Central, Zanies, Laugh Factory and nationally touring comedians at the November edition of the Forest Park Arts Alliance Faux Pas Comedy Show. Nov. 8 from 8 to 9:30 p.m. at Doc Ryan’s, 7432 Madison St. Ticket sales go toward the FPAA’s large scale mural project. More information available at bit.ly/2pobPa2.

Parent Workshop at Proviso East

The topic of the next Parent Workshop is Promoting Nonviolent Solutions. Nov. 7 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Proviso East High School, 807 S. 1st Ave. in Maywood.

Sip wine at Amy’s Wine House and enjoy the music of Raul Garcia as he performs Spanish guitar. Saturday, Nov. 9 from 6 to 9 p.m. at 7235 Roosevelt Rd. 

Story Time with the Forest Park Library

Thursday, Nov. 7 from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Merry Math Makers Storytime. Playfully explore math concepts like sorting and counting through hands-on art activities and play. Ages 2 to 5. 

Friday, Nov. 8 from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Exploration Storytime. Join us for stories, songs and hands-on exploring of art, science, tinkering and everything in between. Fun for ages 5 and under.

Monday, Nov. 11 from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Twisted Cookie Story Time. 7401 Madison St. Join us for stories, songs and a small craft. 

Wednesday, Nov. 13 from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Hello Amigos Story Time. Families of all languages and ages will enjoy this fun and interactive storytime with a splash of Spanish.

 Due to renovation at the library, all events except Twisted Cookie Story Time will be be held at the Howard Mohr Community Center, 7640 Jackson Blvd.
