There is blame enough to go around for the depths of flat-out trash talking that has come to represent conversation at the District 209 Proviso high schools board table. While it is an embarrassment, it is also a reflection of just how personal the divides have become at what was a model district until just recently.

Board member Claudia Medina and board President Rodney Alexander have been the most vicious and inappropriate. Via email and in over-the-top statements from the board table, each has lashed out in ways we’d never tolerate from our kids.

To her credit, Medina has issued a thorough apology. You can read it in this week’s Review. She does not withdraw her vivid criticism of Alexander or new Supt. James Henderson but she does acknowledge that her attacks are too personal.
