Forest Park police say no one appears to have been wounded in a shooting that took place on the afternoon of Aug. 4 in the parking lot of Walmart, 1300 Desplaines Ave.

An unknown number of gunshots were fired, said police, who also reported finding an abandoned black SUV that had crashed into a tree. Police reported locating the occupants of that vehicle, all residents of Chicago, and interviewing them at the scene.

It’s not clear exactly where police found the crashed vehicle.

The police responded to a call of shots fired at approximately 4:15 p.m. The shots reportedly came from a gold vehicle, which was last seen driving away in the direction of Desplaines Avenue. Police say they don’t know at this time what prompted the shooting.

The Forest Park Police Department is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the department’s criminal investigations division at 708-366-2425 or detectives@forestpark.net.
