The Proviso Township High School District 209 family is mourning the loss of one of their own after they announced Monday afternoon that Jennifer Miller, a family and consumer science educator at Proviso East High School, has died.
“The entire D209 family mourns the loss of a dedicated educator, mentor and friend,” Acting Supt. Bessie Karvelas said in a statement.
She said that the district released the news of Miller’s passing with “profound sadness,” adding that details of a memorial service or remembrance activities will be shared with the community once they are available.
“The entire PTHS community is saddened by the loss of Jenny Miller,” said board of education president Amanda Grant. “We send our love to her family and friends, and we are focused on giving affected students and staff the support they need during this difficult time.”
Grant also said the district was working on putting together all available resources from West and PMSA to East to help comfort grieving students and staff.
No other information about her death is available at this time.
“Let us join together in honoring her memory and offering our collective support to one another during this time of loss,” Karvelas said in the statement.
