On May 25 at 9 p.m., police were dispatched to the 300 block of Des Plaines for a delayed armed robbery. At the scene, a man told police he was walking in the 7200 block of Washington when he was approached by two men with box cutter knives. They demanded his belongings and held a knife to his chest, so the man gave them his cell phone and bag before the two fled. At the time of the report, the two men hadn’t been identified.

DUI

Close to 1 a.m. on May 25, police pulled over a car in the 7500 block of Randolph for driving without headlights and hitting a curb. Police ran the license plate and found the car’s registration was suspended for insurance violations. Police pulled over the driver and reported that the car smelled of alcohol, that the driver had slurred speech, and was unable to provide valid insurance. Police tried to have the man perform standardized field sobriety tests, but he kept falling. He was taken to the police station, where his blood alcohol concentration was 0.22. He was charged with driving under the influence, having a BAC over 0.08, driving without lights, improper lane usage, operating a car with suspended registration and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

Around 10 p.m. on May 22, police responded to the area of Marengo and Washington after a vehicle ran into a parked car. Police reported that the offending vehicle had heavy damage on the front passenger side and that the driver had slurred speech and was hard to understand. The driver refused to perform standardized field sobriety tests, and police placed him in custody. The driver said he had seven beers at Robert’s Westside and was charged with driving under the influence, DUI with BAC over 0.08, failure to reduce speed and going the wrong way on a one-way street.

Criminal trespass

On May 22, police were dispatched to the Hawk dealership at 7911 Roosevelt Road. Upon arrival, the store manager told police that he saw a woman enter the lot and get in a car to sleep. He said this is the second time the woman has done this and wanted to sign a criminal complaint for her trespassing. According to police, the woman has been trespassed from several properties in Forest Park.

Fight

Police responded to 7500 Madison St. at 12:30 a.m. on May 28 for a fight between two men. When police asked for identification, one of the men repeatedly refused to provide his name. He identified himself once he was detained. Police watched video of the fight and saw that the men were in a verbal altercation on the sidewalk. The altercation turned physical, and the man police detained appeared to be the aggressor, though the two became mutual combatants, hitting each other, according to the police report. Both men were issued a local ordinance citation for public fighting.

Possession of cannabis

Police saw a car on May 28 whose registered owner had a suspended driver’s license for a DUI, so they pulled the car over. Police told the driver, who was the owner of the car, that the car would be seized because of the state of his license. They searched the car and found 24 bags of suspected cannabis edibles. Police detained the man and took him to the police station, where the man told them that he paid the reinstatement fee for his license and didn’t know the edibles were in his car. The man was charged with having a suspended license and two counts of possessing cannabis with intent to deliver because of the amount of cannabis in the car.
