I would like to give a hearty shout-out to the staff of the Forest Park Post Office. As a 36-year Oak Park resident, the Forest Park Post Office has become my go-to post office. What makes it so amazing and sets it apart from other local post offices is the staff. They are friendly and helpful to everyone who comes in. I just left from a visit where one of the workers helped an elderly man figure out how many stamps he needed to mail an envelope and patiently waited as he counted out the stamps he already possessed. He was not even making a purchase and got full-service treatment and courtesy.
The staff never fails to ask how my day is going and they do it in a way that is not perfunctory – they genuinely want to know how my day is going! I have struck up many a conversation with their staff and they never fail to make my day.
In a world that has become increasingly divided and contentious, the Forest Park Post Office staff continue to be a bright and shining spot. My faith in humanity and the simple goodness of people is restored every time I make a trip there. I highly recommend, Oak Parkers, the 10-minute drive to their Desplaines Avenue location. You will be glad you made the trip!
